Born in San Francisco and raised in Montana, Mary Irwin was originally trained as a watercolor painter and sculptor. Her parents were both artists who found tremendous joy in watching their daughter be creative in many mediums - painting, sculpting, photography, piano and classical ballet.
Her versatile style and defined aesthetic was formed from experiences ranging from Opera and Ballet to working on farms. Her laid back, down to earth manner gained from training horses and studying to be a professional dancer has translated flawlessly to working with teams all over the world and always having a positive attitude on set. Growing up in theater embedded the importance of speed and timing.
Makeup became an interest after Kevyn Aucoin’s books came out in the 90’s and she realized it could be a real job and not just something to be transformed for the stage. Leaving a promising horse training career behind, she dove headfirst into makeup. After living in Dallas and Miami for a decade she now resides in New York and is known for her accuracy and skill in both Hair and Makeup.
